Taking Your App from “Vibe Coding” to Production Reality

AI has changed the story for software founders. In 2025 and 2026, non-technical founders can use a whole host of tools – Bolt, Lovable, and Cursor, to name but a few – to turn an idea into a working prototype. And it takes days rather than months. You can test an idea, show it to potential customers, and discover whether people actually want it before committing serious money to development. But there’s still an important distinction between a working prototype and a production-ready product.

Your AI-built MVP may prove that the idea works. But it probably isn’t enough for you to launch a growing SaaS business. So, how do you take it to the next level?

Vibe Coding: The Next Steps

The prototype is only the beginning

Vibe coding is brilliant for answering one question: Can we build something people want? But the next question is much harder: Can we build something people can safely rely on?

Once real customers arrive, your application needs to handle much more than the happy path. User permissions need to be reliable. Customer data must be properly separated. Payments and subscriptions need robust handling. Backups, monitoring, security updates and error handling all become important.

Multi-tenancy is a good example. A prototype might work perfectly for ten users. A SaaS product may eventually have hundreds of organisations, each with its own users and data. The architecture needs to make sure one customer can never accidentally access another customer’s information.

Billing introduces another layer of complexity. Subscriptions, payment failures, upgrades, cancellations and access rights all need to work together reliably.

Why Rails makes sense for day two

This is where Ruby on Rails development can show its value. Rails has been around for more than 20 years, and that maturity is an advantage when you’re building software intended to last. It provides an established structure for database-backed applications, authentication, background processing, testing and much more.

It also gives you something that is increasingly valuable in the AI era: conventions. Instead of assembling a different collection of tools for every part of your application, Rails provides a coherent framework that experienced developers can understand, maintain, and extend.

That makes it a particularly good fit for the “Day 2” problem: taking a validated idea and turning it into a dependable product.

Build the product you actually need

The answer isn’t necessarily to throw away your prototype. Your AI-generated application has already done something valuable: it has helped you validate the idea. You now have customer feedback, an understanding of the core workflow and, hopefully, evidence that the product deserves further investment. The next step is to preserve what you’ve learnt while rebuilding the foundations properly.

That might mean designing a robust database structure, introducing proper access controls, implementing reliable billing, improving automated testing and creating an architecture that can evolve as your business grows. The goal isn’t to build the biggest possible system. It is to build the right system.

From validated idea to valuable asset

This is where Foxsoft can help. We take your validated idea and build it correctly the first time, using an experienced Ruby on Rails team and a practical, long-term approach. Our on-demand development team can augment your existing resources or provide the technical capability you don’t yet have. And we don’t stop at launch.

Good Ruby on Rails maintenance keeps your application secure, current, and reliable as your business changes. Regular upgrades, monitoring, refactoring and technical debt management help prevent today’s quick solution from becoming tomorrow’s expensive problem.

Your prototype proved the idea. Now it’s time to build the product.

Foxsoft helps founders turn early validation into stable, scalable software that can become a long-term business asset. Not another prototype that needs replacing in six months.
